How to Make Potato Bacon Soup in a Slow Cooker

The for years I have made potato soup with a pretty basic recipe of milk, butter, potatoes, salt and pepper. It wasn’t the most inventive recipe, but it worked. Then I ran across this recipe from Gooseberry Patch’sSuper Fast Slow Cooking. Oh. My. Yum.
This is a pretty simple recipe, but don’t let that fool you! It is delicious!
The night I made this, my friend Josie stopped by at dinner time. Potato soup just happens to be her favorite, so I was hoping this Crock Pot Potato Bacon Soup would not disappoint. Well, Michael has declared that this will be our potato soup recipe from now on, and Miss Josie wanted to know what was in it. Yay!
Crock Pot Potato Bacon Soup Notes:
- We used russet potatoes to make this soup.

Ingredients
- 5 lbs potatoes peeled and chopped
- 1/2 lbs bacon cooked crisply and crumbled
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 cup sour cream
- 43.5 oz chicken broth or combination of chicken broth and water (We used 3 -14 oz cans)
- 10.75 oz. cream of chicken soup
Instructions
Place all ingredients in crock pot and stir
Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours or high for 5-6 hours
